L'INFERNOT
The infernot is a small underground chamber, dug by hand in the Pietra da Cantoni, a sandstone typical of Monferrato. A peculiar characteristic of the Infernot is the absence of light and natural ventilation, which allow these environments to maintain a constant temperature and humidity throughout the year. They are therefore optimal environments for storing bottled wine and were also used to store other foods. Each infernot is a unique work created by the skill of ordinary people, it is an artefact that represents in summary the material and immaterial heritage of our Monferrato.
Since we are veru lucky to have it in our house we have renovated it: it is available for a visit or a stopover accompanied by a good glass of wine
